Excursions 3 raises the stakes (literally!) as campers begin to camp out in expedition-style programming while building on the skills they learned in Excursions 2.
Campers will begin the week practicing skills on-site and sleep in Colorado Tents. Then, they will take their skills off-site on longer and more intense day-trip adventures.
Campers will not only be challenged to four extreme day-long adventures — mountain biking, rock climbing, low and high ropes course initiatives, and white-water rafting — they will also begin their education in expeditions by backpacking in Pike National Forest and spending one or more nights in tents on the trail.
These challenges will equip campers to embark upon a life journey with Christ as their guide as they embark on exhilarating journeys that will challenge and stimulate their physical, mental/emotional, social, and spiritual growth.
Counselors are equipped to help them understand the spiritual parallels as they encounter and overcome obstacles in the wilderness. Campers will also have the opportunity to explore God’s Word and learn about him through quiet times and Bible study.
These new locations and activities parallel their growth in relationship with Christ as they embark on a journey that will expand their walk beyond the initial discovery and exploration of our earlier Excursion programs.
This camp uses National Forest Land for part of the programming. Eagle Lake Camps operates under a special use permit from the Pikes National Forest.
It is our desire that no child miss out because of financial circumstances. Financial aid, in the form of a partial assistance scholarship, is available to those in need. Visit our Campership page to apply.
Lost & Found update: We will no longer offer lost and found after camp has ended.
We will have several opportunities for campers to look through Lost and Found during their camp session AND we will have a Lost and Found table out on Friday morning for parents to look over as they leave. However, we will no longer search through Lost and Found after camp; all Lost and Found will be donated.
A couple quick tips to help your camper’s gear pack stay intact:
- PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING with camper’s full name!
- PLEASE DO NOT send anything of strong sentimental or monetary value!
- PLEASE take the time Friday to look over the Lost and Found table before you leave.
PRO TIP: Some expert camp parents send their campers with a “Packing Checklist” to use so campers know what important things to look for as they’re packing their bags at the end of the week! (This is also super helpful for counselors, especially if there is a special “snuggie” campers need for bedtime every night!)

What you need to know
If a camper is on prescription medication, the medication is required to be checked in with the nurse at registration. All medications, including vitamins, must be in the original container or will not be accepted. All medication, including vitamins, must be listed on the Eagle Lake physical form by the prescribing doctor. We do not allow any camper to keep medications on them except specifically requested by the physician.
Our medical staff distributes all medication at the time it needs to be taken by the camper. Please do not have campers bring over-the-counter medication to camp, as our camp infirmary is sufficiently stocked to meet the general needs of headaches, coughs and scrapes. If you have any questions about a specific medical situation, please call the camp office.
If a camper is on one of our Excursions, he or she will need to check any medication in with the nurse, who will then give the medication to the counselor to administer at the appropriate time.
Because of the steep inclines and rough terrain of most Eagle Lake programs, campers with physical challenges should contact Eagle Lake before registering to discuss the respective program and help our staff understand the special needs of his or her situation.

Due to the frequent changes and updates that children experience within a year’s time we require parents to fill out a new health form every year. The doctor’s physical may be accepted if it is within 12 months of camp attendance. Please bring a copy of the current health form with you on the day of registration; all documents from prior years go into archive following the summer months, and are irretrievable.
Crew reminded me of who I serve and why I serve Him. I've learned so much about myself and God this summer. I can honestly say that this has been the best experience of my life! —Hallie, CO
