A gently-paced introduction to challenging mountain sports, Excursions 1 is the perfect program for campers ready to grow out of our (REZ)ident program.
Using our property as base camp, Excursions 1 campers will spend their days exploring the great outdoors at and around Eagle Lake and sleep in tents at night.
Campers will go rock-climbing on property, kayak on our lake, hike off property, traverse our low ropes course, and participate in a variety of group games. However, Excursions 1 campers will still get to participate in classic Free Time activities like visiting the store and enjoying our beach front.
The wide variety of activities provide more challenge than our (REZ)ident program activities and keep slightly older campers exhilarated and engaged in camp.
Spiritually, campers explore what it means to have quiet times and study the Bible in the beauty of God’s Creation. Our counselors will also facilitate the exploration of God’s Word through Bible Studies and discipleship conversations.
Campers who participate in Excursions 1 will discover God and His Word in new ways as they interact with Him in His Creation while participating in an abundance of fun-filled and inspiring activities.
This camp uses National Forest Land for part of the programming. Eagle Lake Camps operates under a special use permit from the Pikes National Forest.
It is our desire that no child miss out on a camp experience because of financial circumstances. Financial aid, in the form of a partial assistance scholarship, is available to those in need. Visit our Campership page to apply.
Lost & Found update: We will no longer offer lost and found after camp has ended.
We will have several opportunities for campers to look through Lost and Found during their camp session AND we will have a Lost and Found table out on Friday morning for parents to look over as they leave. However, we will no longer search through Lost and Found after camp; all Lost and Found will be donated.
A couple quick tips to help your camper’s gear pack stay intact:
- PLEASE LABEL EVERYTHING with camper’s full name!
- PLEASE DO NOT send anything of strong sentimental or monetary value!
- PLEASE take the time on Friday to look over the Lost and Found table before you leave.
PRO TIP: Some expert camp parents send their campers with a “Packing Checklist” to use so campers know what important things to look for as they’re packing their bags at the end of the week! (This is also super helpful for counselors, especially if there is a special “snuggie” campers need for bedtime every night!)

FAQs
What you need to know
Overnight Camps
If a camper is on prescription medication, the medication is required to be checked in with the nurse at registration. All medications, including vitamins, must be in the original container or will not be accepted. All medication, including vitamins, must be listed on the Eagle Lake physical form by the prescribing doctor. We do not allow any camper to keep medications on them except specifically requested by the physician.
Our medical staff distributes all medication at the time it needs to be taken by the camper. Please do not have campers bring over-the-counter medication to camp, as our camp infirmary is sufficiently stocked to meet the general needs of headaches, coughs and scrapes. If you have any questions about a specific medical situation, please call the camp office.
If a camper is on one of our Excursions, he or she will need to check any medication in with the nurse, who will then give the medication to the counselor to administer at the appropriate time.
Rental equipment for our Excursion Camps includes backpacking backpacks, climbing shoes, and backpacking camp chairs. Rental items are available on a first come, first served basis. We will provide other necessary equipment once the camper is on the trail – cooking utensils, stoves, etc. You can view rental prices below and contact our camp office for more specific rental information.
Rental Prices:
Climbing shoes – $5.00
Backpacking Camp Chair – $5.00
Backpacking Backpack – $10.00
We will have several opportunities for campers to look through Lost and Found during their camp session AND we will have a Lost and Found table out on Friday morning for parents to look over as they leave. However, we will no longer search through Lost and Found after camp; all Lost and Found will be donated.
EARLY REGISTRATION If you register before January 31, 2023 you will receive a $50 discount off the camp of your choice (only applies to 5 or 12-night programs).
REFERRAL DISCOUNT We also offer a Referral Program discount which provides an opportunity for you to earn discounts (up to a free week of camp) while helping us recruit new campers. Our referral program is only eligible for our Overnight Camps and Day Camp On Location. Our Overnight Camps referral discount provides a $50 discount for each new camper you refer, and our Day Camp On Location referral discount provides a $25 discount for each new camper you refer. Please see our referral page for more information.
Overnight and Day Camp Programs: Financial aid, in the form of a partial assistance scholarship, is available to those in need. Financial assistance is approved by application only. Visit our Campership page to apply.
To qualify for financial aid, your camper must have an active Eagle Lake registration secured with a $50 deposit (while the deposit is typically non-refundable, in the case that a registration must be cancelled due to insufficient financial assistance, the deposit will be refunded).
Campers may make a request for a roommate(s) when they register for an overnight camp during the registration process (this is found after signing the medical release form under “friend request”). You may also visit your camper’s registration on your account dashboard and request a roommate under “camp services”. An email will be sent to the account owner of that camper to inform them of the request. Eagle Lake will strive to accommodate these requests but cannot guarantee them due to limited housing space and age grouping considerations.
Our daughter couldn't believe the challenges that were thrown at her during the two week camp. She smiles when she tells us stories about all the adventures. Thank you for challenging our daughter! We've noticed a positive change in her personality, mood and outlook on life. —Caroline, CO
