The Highlands (ages 14 - 17) program is an elevated Eagle Lake Camps experience. Campers get to experience a joy-filled and safe environment where counselors accompany and spur them on as they welcome exciting new challenges, practice fellowship, and pursue Jesus together.

Biggest Changes from 2023:

This program is very similar to our Excursions programs for older campers from previous years; however, there is more opportunity for some of the classic camp experiences like the zipline and beachfront. There is also more choice built in for campers to choose the adventures that are right for them.

 

Excursion Sign-Ups:

Each Highlands (ages 14 – 17) camper gets to choose 2 specialized Excursions (at camp check in) that they are most excited to learn and try. They do not need to have any previous experience in the activities, but need to come with excitement to give it a go! The Excursions are a block of time where campers are introduced to the activity, get to explore and learn about the activity, and walk away with a one-of-a-kind experience as well as an encouraged sense of self-courage, self-confidence, and excitement. If campers have had previous experience with the activities offered, they will have coaching to dive deeper in their skills and experiences. Each Excursion also provides a unique opportunity for campers and staff to reflect on Jesus’ presence in our everyday lives. 

 

Adventure Opportunities:

Highlands (ages 14 – 17) campers will get to spend 1-2 nights on trail, complete the High Ropes Course, and end their week at camp with a day of rafting with Noah’s Ark Whitewater Rafting in Buena Vista, Colorado. These Adventure opportunities are meant to provide higher heights and deeper depths to the Eagle Lake Camp experience for our oldest campers. As they become comfortable being away from home and with the environment of camp, these activities are a new level of fun, and provide a safe opportunity for campers to opt into growth and challenge. Through these adventures, we aim for campers to experience God by being in his creation and undergoing unique experiences together as a team. 

 

Practicing Pursuing Jesus:

As they go through each Excursion, event, and Adventure, campers will have the opportunity to reflect, learn, and grow together in a small example of Christian community. The goal is for Highlands (ages 14 – 17) campers to tangibly practice the pursuit of Jesus alongside their counselors and peers as they continue to learn about Jesus and how the Gospel influences their lives. Campers will still get the same foundational elements such as Camper Rallies, worship, bible studies, and quiet times, but as they go through their week at camp, they will also be encouraged to take what they have heard and learned about Jesus and practice living as Jesus calls us to.

What you need to know

Overnight and Day Camp Programs: Financial aid, in the form of a partial assistance scholarship, is available to those in need. Financial assistance is approved by application only. Visit our Campership page to apply.

To qualify for financial aid, your camper must have an active Eagle Lake registration secured with a $50 deposit (while the deposit is typically non-refundable, in the case that a registration must be cancelled due to insufficient financial assistance, the deposit will be refunded).

 

Campers may make a request for a roommate(s) when they register for an overnight camp during the registration process (this is found after signing the medical release form under “friend request”). You may also visit your camper’s registration on your account dashboard and request a roommate under “camp services”. An email will be sent to the account owner of that camper to inform them of the request. Eagle Lake will strive to accommodate these requests but cannot guarantee them due to limited housing space and age grouping considerations.

Eagle Lake is located on Rampart Range Road past Woodland Park. Please see the Directions page for customized driving directions to camp. Please note that the last 12 miles of Rampart are unpaved and somewhat rough.

Overnight Camps
If a camper is on prescription medication, the medication is required to be checked in with the nurse at registration.All medications, including vitamins, must be in the original container or will not be accepted. All medication, including vitamins, must be listed on the Eagle Lake physical form by the prescribing doctor. We do not allow any camper to keep medications on them except specifically requested by the physician.

Our medical staff distributes all medication at the time it needs to be taken by the camper. Please do not have campers bring over-the-counter medication to camp, as our camp infirmary is sufficiently stocked to meet the general needs of headaches, coughs and scrapes. If you have any questions about a specific medical situation, please call the camp office.

If a camper is on one of our Excursions, he or she will need to check any medication in with the nurse, who will then give the medication to the counselor to administer at the appropriate time.

 

Due to the frequent changes and updates that children experience within a year’s time we require parents to fill out a new health form every year. The doctor’s physical may be accepted if it is within 12 months of camp attendance. Please upload a copy of the current health form to your camper’s registration account; all documents from prior years go into archive following the summer months, and are irretrievable.

Be sure to note that your camper has a food allergy during the registration process (found within the medical history portion). Please contact the Eagle Lake office if your camper is in need of a specific food regimen because of a medical condition. We can accommodate most food allergies (dairy, gluten, nut, and vegetarian) but are unable to change items sold in the store based on an allergy. We would love to discuss your camper’s dietary needs so that we can ensure proper nutrition while they are at camp. We want to make our best effort to serve your camper.

Overnight: Check-in occurs on Sunday afternoon. To avoid crowds, we space out check-in as much as possible. Please see the following times we need you to arrive to check-in your camper. 

A-C: 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM
D-H: 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM
I-M: 1:30 PM – 2:00 PM
N-S: 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM
T-Z: 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM

Day Camp at Glen Eyrie:

8:30 AM – 9:00 AM each morning (before care is available beginning at 7:30 a.m. and after care is available ending at 5:30 p.m. each day for an additional $75)

Day Camp On Location:

8:30 AM – 9:15 AM each morning

Overnight: Friday morning check out is by last name. Please come at your scheduled time to help us practice social distancing.
