Deposits are refundable within 48 hours of registration – deposits are non-refundable after the 48 hour grace period. Who’s in charge of this whole thing?

Each of our staff are imperative to creating a safe enviornment where campers of all ages are inspired toward Christ-centered love and commitment. We would love for you to meet our year-round staff on our Staff page, but we would really love to meet you in person as we lead our summer counselors and summer program coaches in enthusiastically leading our events with joy and excellence.

What is the maximum capacity for your camps?

Overnight Camps: Our capacities for each of the overnight programs are different. Base Camp capacity averages around 120 campers. Ascent capacity averages around 140 campers. Highlands capacity averages around 50 campers. Our Crew and CiT programs combinded accommodate approximately 70 campers per session. If you are looking into one of our legacy programs we have a much more limited capacity to enhance the community experience that these programs are built for. Once we reach our capacity for a specific program, a waitlist will be generated.

Day Camp at Glen Eyrie: Our Day Camp at Glen Eyrie can accomodate up to 60 campers/week.

Day Camps in your community: Depending on our location, our Day Camp programs can accommodate up to 150 campers/week.

What are the camper/counselor ratios at camp?

Overnight Camps: Ratios fluctuate depending on the amount of campers we have each week. Typically:

  • Overnight Camp camper/counselor ratios are 7 to 1.
  • Crew ratios are 3 to 1.

Day Camps: Ratios fluctuate depending on the amount of campers we have each week. Typically:

How can I contact a camper or counselor at camp?

We encourage friends and family to send letters, post cards, and even packages to campers/counselors. If you want to save on shipping, you may leave packages in our office when you drop your camper off and we would be happy to give it to them on the day you specify. Due to the location of our camp, there is no cell phone reception. Counselors may be contacted on their days off. In cases of extreme emergency, you may contact our office via phone or e-mail. Mailing Address: Eagle Lake Camps PO Box 6819 Colorado Springs, CO 80934 Telephone: 719-272-7453 Email: eaglelake@navigators.org

How can I contact Eagle Lake’s full-time staff?

Full Time staff members may be contacted through our main number, 719-272-7453.

What is the weather usually like in Colorado?

Colorado weather in the summer can be unpredictable, especially in the mountains. The daytime temperatures can get up into the 80s, but can also drop down at night (usually ending up in the 40s and 50s). Often, during cooler temperatures, campers are seen wearing jeans and sweatshirts, as well as a jacket or fleece for added warmth. Layers are key. Clouds move in fast and can bring summer rain showers with them; these rainstorms can last 10 minutes or a good part of the afternoon. Most days, however, the skies are clear blue, averaging 300 days of sunshine a year.

How can I get directions to Eagle Lake?

Eagle Lake is located on Rampart Range Road past Woodland Park. Please see the Directions page for customized driving directions to camp. Please note that the last 12 miles of Rampart are unpaved and somewhat rough.

How do I get to camp if I am flying or taking a bus to Colorado Springs?

If your camper is coming to Colorado Springs by plane or bus, we will provide transportation to and from Eagle Lake on the opening and closing days (Sunday and Friday). We do not provide transportation from Denver International Airport or pick-ups for Colorado Springs residents. The only way we can ensure transportation for your camper is for you to enter your camper’s flight information online in our transportation module, found on your online account, or to reserve the appropriate charter. All travel information must be received within two weeks of your camper’s arrival. In the event that you do not communicate your camper’s transportation needs and reserve the correct shuttle online in a timely way, we are logistically unable to provide transportation for him or her and cannot be held responsible. All campers must have a set airline/bus arrival and departure time in order to be included on a transportation run; because of tightly-scheduled arrangements, we cannot pick up campers flying stand-by.

What forms do I need to fill out for camp?

Overnight and Day Camps:

There are 3 forms required for each camper:

  2. Health History form (complete during registration)

Can I bring my own music or other media to camp?

Please do not bring magazines, comic books, CD Players, iPods, cell phones, knives, weapons, or illegal substances as they will be confiscated and returned to you at the end of the week. All camper music brought to camp will be checked in and held for safe keeping in the camp office. Since you won’t have access to it, don’t bring it!

Can I bring food to camp?

Overnight Camps:
We do not allow any food to be kept in the tents or cabins because it can attract wild animals. If a camper has special dietary needs that require him or her to bring specific foods to camp, all food will be checked in through our nurse and kept either in the dining hall or in the camp infirmary.

Eagle Lake has a camp store where snacks can be purchased and eaten during free times. As a general rule, we ask that you refrain from bringing food to camp.

Day Camps:
Campers are responsible to bring their own sack lunch each day to camp. Eagle Lake has a camp store where snacks can be purchased and eaten during free time but feel free to pack some extra snacks in their lunch as well.

Can I bring medications to camp-Overnight?

Overnight Camps
If a camper is on prescription medication, the medication is required to be checked in with the nurse at registration. All medications, including vitamins, must be in the original container or will not be accepted. All medication, including vitamins, must be listed on the Eagle Lake physical form by the prescribing doctor. We do not allow any camper to keep medications on them except specifically requested by the physician.

Our medical staff distributes all medication at the time it needs to be taken by the camper. Please do not have campers bring over-the-counter medication to camp, as our camp infirmary is sufficiently stocked to meet the general needs of headaches, coughs and scrapes. If you have any questions about a specific medical situation, please call the camp office.

If a camper is on one of our Excursions, he or she will need to check any medication in with the nurse, who will then give the medication to the counselor to administer at the appropriate time.

Can I bring medication to camp-Day Camps in your community?

Day Camps in your community:
Eagle Lake staff will not administer prescription medication to campers. If a camper needs to take a prescription medication during camp, a parent must come to administer the medication.

What if I have a physical disability?

Because of the steep inclines and rough terrain of most Eagle Lake programs, campers with physical challenges should contact Eagle Lake before registering to discuss the respective program and help our staff understand the special needs of his or her situation.

What if I have special dietary needs?

Be sure to note that your camper has a food allergy during the registration process (found within the medical history portion). Please contact the Eagle Lake office if your camper is in need of a specific food regimen because of a medical condition. We can accommodate most food allergies (dairy, gluten, nut, and vegetarian) but are unable to change items sold in the store based on an allergy. We would love to discuss your camper’s dietary needs so that we can ensure proper nutrition while they are at camp. We want to make our best effort to serve your camper.

How do I request a roommate?

Campers may make a request for a roommate(s) when they register for an overnight camp during the registration process (this is found after signing the medical release form under “friend request”). You may also visit your camper’s registration on your account dashboard and request a roommate under “camp services”. An email will be sent to the account owner of that camper to inform them of the request. Eagle Lake will strive to accommodate these requests but cannot guarantee them due to limited housing space and age grouping considerations.

What if I want my child to be in a group with their friend?

You may request a friend for your camper when you register them for camp. Eagle Lake will strive to accommodate these requests but cannot guarantee them due age and gender grouping considerations. These assignments are made one week prior to camp arrival. Please be sure to submit a friend request online from your account under Manage Registrations.

What if I get homesick?

Our staff is trained to handle each homesick camper individually according to their needs. By offering personal attention, compassion, and encouragement, we have found that campers respond very positively as the week goes on. Some kids have a greater struggle than others and it takes more time to adjust; however, our counselors are committed to seeing these kids make it through the week by keeping them active and occupied.

Eagle Lake does not offer a phone call home as a means of helping a camper overcome homesickness. Such action often makes the situation more difficult after a camper hears the voice of the one he or she is missing the most. If necessary, a parent will be contacted at the discretion of the individual camp director and options will be discussed as to a beneficial course of action for the camper. This decision, however, may or may not include a phone call home, as Eagle Lake does not have phones at camp for campers to make or receive phone calls.

Do you have Lost & Found?

We will have several opportunities for campers to look through Lost and Found during their camp session AND we will have a Lost and Found table out on Friday morning for parents to look over as they leave. However, we will no longer search through Lost and Found after camp; all Lost and Found will be donated.

Are there age exceptions for campers?

Overnight Camps
Our Base Camp, Ascent, and Highlands Programs occasionally make age exceptions. However, you will need program manager approval. Please contact our office via phone or e-mail for more information.

Day Camps (including Stationary and in your community)
Our Day Camps programs are specifically designed and geared toward six to twelve year olds. The high energy activities of camp can be difficult for five-year-olds and younger children to keep up with. Please contact our office if you have any questions about younger children attending our camp.

Can I visit Eagle Lake Camp before I register?

Eagle Lake is a beautiful property that we would love for you to see prior to registering for camp. Because our property is closed during the non-camp season, it is not possible to visit between September and May. However, once camp begins in June, you are welcome to visit during any opening or closing day (on Sunday afternoons and Friday mornings).

If my camper attended Eagle Lake last year, do I need to submit a new health form?

Due to the frequent changes and updates that children experience within a year’s time we require parents to fill out a new health form every year. The doctor’s physical may be accepted if it is within 12 months of camp attendance. Please upload a copy of the current health form to your camper’s registration account; all documents from prior years go into archive following the summer months, and are irretrievable.

What do you do when it rains?

We still have camp! Our team has an alternate schedule ready for the day when the weather does not allow us to go outside.

What have other churches done to promote camp?

There are so many different ways to promote camp! While you know your community and what they would respond best to, here are a couple of ideas we’ve seen work well:

  • Partner with a local school to help spread the word!
  • Be strategic with where you promote! Put posters up in high traffic areas or consider boosting advertisement on Facebook.
  • Set up a creative display in your church foyer with information about camp!

What does your staff do during their time off?

Our staff really enjoy getting to be part of host homes! For some families, this means taking counselors to their favorite ice cream shop. For others, this means asking counselors to be apart of family game night. After a long, full day of high energy campers they do need their rest though, and we encourage them to have an early bed time!

What does a counselor’s schedule typically look like?

Counselors are up pretty early! They’ll need to be at the church around 7 am each morning. Generally, they will return to their host homes by 5:30 pm.

Am I responsible for driving counselors everyday?

No! We ask that host homes pick up counselors on Saturday and take them to church on Sunday morning, but other than that we have vans to use for transportation throughout the week. If you happen to drive past the church on your way to work and want to take them, that would be great but it is not required!

Can I show counselors around our town?

Yes, we encourage that!
