The Ascent (ages 11 - 14) program is the heart and soul of Eagle Lake Overnight Camps. Campers get to experience a fun and safe environment exemplified by counselors who challenge your camper to discover and build on what they are capable of, develop true fellowship, and engage with Jesus. Overall, the Ascent (ages 11 - 14) program is a whole lot of goofy fun. Whether your camper is new to Eagle Lake, or an Eagle Lake regular, they absolutely belong in the Ascent (ages 11 - 14) program.

Additional Information about Ascent (ages 11 – 14) Camp

Biggest Changes from 2023:

This program is perhaps the biggest shift from last year’s options for 11-14 year olds in 2023. In years past, our Excursions programs were highly sought after—so much so that we had long wait lists year after year. The hardest thing we have to do is turn kids away from an exceptional camp experience! This new structure will ensure more kids are able to experience the love of Christ through exciting outdoor Excursions experiences.

Additionally, we want those campers who have attended the 8-11 camp (formerly known as Rezident Camp) for several years to have exciting new opportunities to grow in what they can do at camp. 11-14 campers will still have the opportunity to enjoy camp classics like the Blob, Capture the Flag, the Zipline, and Crazy Night, but these programs will be more tailored to their age group.

PLUS they’ll get to try the best intro Excursions activities that appeal to them, from mountain biking to nature club to rock climbing and a fireside campout! (Keep reading to learn more.)

 

Excursion Sign-Ups:

Each Ascent (ages 11 – 14) camper gets to choose 3 specialized Excursions (during camp check in) that they are most excited to learn and try. They do not need to have any previous experience in the activities; they just need to come with excitement to give it a go! These Excursions introduce campers to an activity, provide them with time and guidance to explore the activity, and walk away with a one-of-a-kind experience as well as an encouraged sense of self-courage, self-confidence, and excitement. Each Excursion also provides a unique opportunity for campers and staff to reflect on Jesus’ presence in our everyday lives. 

 

Free Time:

During their week at camp, we want campers to have the opportunity to rest and play in ways that they do not have everyday. During their daily Free Time, campers have the opportunity to have fun and participate in a long list of activities (including the Zipline, Nuke ‘Em, beach volleyball, laser tag and the blob) with their peers. 

 

Engaging Jesus:

As campers grow and become more familiar with Jesus and the story of the Gospel, we want to begin to prompt them to consider: “What now?” and “What does who God is mean for who I am?” The Overnight 11-14 experience includes bible studies, quiet times, worship, and camper rallies that all aim to introduce them to Jesus and spur them forward in faith. Additionally, each Excursion that the Ascent (ages 11 – 14) campers experience will have a spiritual application meant to encourage campers to connect their faith with their everyday lives. 

 

Fireside Campout:

As the idea of being away from home becomes less novel, the Fireside Campout provides a new and exciting camping experience for the Overnight 11-14 campers. Each cabin will get to spend one night camping outside as a special team experience and as a new way to encounter God’s creation. If the weather does not permit overnight camping, campers will still have the opportunity for a unique dinner and evening tailored just for their cabin. The goal of the Fireside Campout is to continue elevating their camp experience and make unique spaces for them to engage with Jesus at camp.

What you need to know

Overnight and Day Camp Programs: Financial aid, in the form of a partial assistance scholarship, is available to those in need. Financial assistance is approved by application only. Visit our Campership page to apply.

To qualify for financial aid, your camper must have an active Eagle Lake registration secured with a $50 deposit (while the deposit is typically non-refundable, in the case that a registration must be cancelled due to insufficient financial assistance, the deposit will be refunded).

 

Campers may make a request for a roommate(s) when they register for an overnight camp during the registration process (this is found after signing the medical release form under “friend request”). You may also visit your camper’s registration on your account dashboard and request a roommate under “camp services”. An email will be sent to the account owner of that camper to inform them of the request. Eagle Lake will strive to accommodate these requests but cannot guarantee them due to limited housing space and age grouping considerations.

Eagle Lake is located on Rampart Range Road past Woodland Park. Please see the Directions page for customized driving directions to camp. Please note that the last 12 miles of Rampart are unpaved and somewhat rough.

Overnight Camps
If a camper is on prescription medication, the medication is required to be checked in with the nurse at registration.All medications, including vitamins, must be in the original container or will not be accepted. All medication, including vitamins, must be listed on the Eagle Lake physical form by the prescribing doctor. We do not allow any camper to keep medications on them except specifically requested by the physician.

Our medical staff distributes all medication at the time it needs to be taken by the camper. Please do not have campers bring over-the-counter medication to camp, as our camp infirmary is sufficiently stocked to meet the general needs of headaches, coughs and scrapes. If you have any questions about a specific medical situation, please call the camp office.

If a camper is on one of our Excursions, he or she will need to check any medication in with the nurse, who will then give the medication to the counselor to administer at the appropriate time.

 

Due to the frequent changes and updates that children experience within a year’s time we require parents to fill out a new health form every year. The doctor’s physical may be accepted if it is within 12 months of camp attendance. Please upload a copy of the current health form to your camper’s registration account; all documents from prior years go into archive following the summer months, and are irretrievable.

Be sure to note that your camper has a food allergy during the registration process (found within the medical history portion). Please contact the Eagle Lake office if your camper is in need of a specific food regimen because of a medical condition. We can accommodate most food allergies (dairy, gluten, nut, and vegetarian) but are unable to change items sold in the store based on an allergy. We would love to discuss your camper’s dietary needs so that we can ensure proper nutrition while they are at camp. We want to make our best effort to serve your camper.

Overnight: Check-in occurs on Sunday afternoon. To avoid crowds, we space out check-in as much as possible. Please see the following times we need you to arrive to check-in your camper. 

A-C: 12:30 PM – 1:00 PM
D-H: 1:00 PM – 1:30 PM
I-M: 1:30 PM – 2:00 PM
N-S: 2:00 PM – 2:30 PM
T-Z: 2:30 PM – 3:00 PM

Day Camp at Glen Eyrie:

8:30 AM – 9:00 AM each morning (before care is available beginning at 7:30 a.m. and after care is available ending at 5:30 p.m. each day for an additional $75)

8:30 AM – 9:15 AM each morning
